About Us

“We are of the opinion that rural workers must take part in their own economic advancement, social progress and cultural betterment.”—Mater at Magistra 147

madreThe Rural Missionaries of the Philippines or RMP is national organization, inter-diocesan and inter-congregational in character, of men and women religious, priests and lay people. They live and work with the peasants.

Founded by the Association of Major Women Religious Superiors of the Philippines (AMWRSP) in 1969, RMP members commit ourselves to support peasant’s quest for justice, freedom, access to commons and genuine agrarian reform. As a Church of the Poor, we are strengthening in the rural poor the awareness that all have the right to live fully as human beings, to self-determination, and to freedom from oppression and all forms of exploitation.

More specifically, we live and work with the peasants in their struggle for genuine agrarian reform. We do this by organizing or assisting in organizing farmers, agricultural workers, rural women, fisher folks and indigenous peoples’ organizations as the effective forces to work for these rights since they are the principal stakeholders of genuine agrarian reform.

RMP-Northern Mindanao Sub-Region or RMP-NMR has been established to hasten our missionary works in the Region.

RMP-NMR is duly registered in the Security and Exchange Commission with registration number CN200927387 as a non-stock, non-profit corporation.
